Student Activism on Ahmadinejad’s Suppresion Radar
June 18, 2007 by pulkit
President Ahmadinejad’s government is cracking down upon students that are daring to raise their voice. Although, the action against such brazen behavior is only disciplinary. Which is mild compared to China’s antics at the Tienanmen square. However, it raises alarm bells all the same, as student activism and politics are the breeding grounds of future politicians. It can be termed as an effort to make the pretense of democracy in Iran even more stronger.
They say 29 have been arrested in the last two months for political activism and 207 were taken before disciplinary committees in the last 40 days alone.
By comparison, just four students were disciplined a month on average under the last government.[source]
