Recalcitrant Economists Rise Up Against Mullah Regime

June 15, 2007 by pulkit

20070416-073530-3901.jpg Ahmadinejad and the mullah regime have very few admirers, and they can be rest assured that eminent economists in Iran do not admire them either. Some Iranian economists, about 57 of them to be precise, have lambasted the governments economic policies. There strictures of the government were as conspicuous as they come. The economists alleged, in an open letter to the press, that Ahmadinejad was leading Iran into impoverishment.

In an open letter to newspapers 57 Iranian economists blamed Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s economic policies for soaring inflation (almost 20 per cent) and increased poverty.[source]

These are signs of a possible intellectual rebellion brewing in Iran. The intelligentsia and the middle class have historically brought about many political and social revolutions. One would not bet against the Iranian middle class coming to the rescue of it’s great nation. Meanwhile, Ahmadinejad continues to revel in his own disenchantment. Wake up, Mr. Ahmadinejad and don’t take your own propaganda as reality.
