Memo to Ahmadinejad: Don’t Repeat Nasser’s Mistake
Open Memo
To: The Iranian Mullahocracy
From: China Confidential
Study your history.
The late Egyptian president and Third World hero, Gamal Abdel Nasser, made the mistake of setting in motion a deadly dynamic that he could not control. The result was the Six-Day War, during which, Egypt’s air force was destroyed.
Israel will not ignore your repeated provocations and threats. Your formidable missile arsenal appears to be a deterrent to military action aimed at eliminating your nuclear arms program. But your missiles are vulnerable. And your nuclear weapons have yet to be developed.
The Jewish state, reborn in the aftermath of the Holocaust that you deny, will not cooperate in its own destruction. You are playing for time and playing with fire–nuclear fire.

Iran test-fired a long-range missile on Wednesday in response to what it says are threats from Israel and the United States, Iranian officials said.
“We want to tell the world that those who conduct their foreign policy by using the language of threat against Iran have to know that our finger is always on the trigger and we have hundreds and even thousands of missiles ready to be fired against predetermined targets, Gen. Hossein Salami, commander of the Revolutionary Guard ground forces, said on state TV.” source

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have begun a military exercise and issued a warning that Israel and U.S. naval forces in the Persian Gulf would be prime targets if Iran is attacked. The Web site of the elite Iranian force posted a statement late Monday announcing the military drill, which it said involved “missile squads,” but did not say where it was taking place. Iran’s guards and national army hold regular exercises two or three times a year, but the statement did not say whether this drill was one of them or if it was a special exercise. full article
The tension is really building up.

Iran has said countless times that it would almost certainly suspend most or all of its oil sales abroad in retaliation of an attack; that would remove a couple of million barrels from the current worldwide supply of roughly 85 million barrels per day. Then—and this is crucial—Ahmadinejad’s increasingly close ally, Hugo Chávez, would in all likelihood at least stop sales to the United States and possibly declare a general suspension of sales. If Iran is attacked, oil prices would go up to $200 - $300 a barrel. That is about $10-$12 USD a gallon.

There is a lot of news today about the soon to come attack on Iran. I believe Israel and the United States (with UK and France?) will attack Iran’s nuclear facilities within the next 2 months.

A nuclear-armed Iran is “unacceptable”, French President Nicolas Sarkozy told the Israeli parliament today.
Sarkozy has consistently slammed the Mullah Regime on this issue. On August 27, 2007, Sarkozy said that Iran could be attacked militarily if it did not live up to its international obligations to curb its nuclear program.
Let’s hope this is not empty-handed rhetoric.

An Iranian newspaper was banned for having criticized the performance of Ahmadinejad in the last three years, official news agency IRNA reported Sunday.
The daily Tehran Emrouz (Tehran Today) had criticized Ahmadinejad’s economic and foreign policies in a special bulletin Saturday on the occasion of the third anniversary of his election.

“I must announce that the Zionist regime (Israel), with a 60-year record of genocide, plunder, invasion and betrayal is about to die and will soon be erased from the geographical scene…Today, the time for the fall of the satanic power of the United States has come and the countdown to the annihilation of the emperor of power and wealth has started.” [source]
Ahmadinejad also again expressed his apocalyptic vision that tyranny in the world be abolished by the return to earth of the Mahdi, the 12th imam of Shiite Islam, alongside great religious figures including Jesus Christ.
Hitler said he’d do it and Ahmadinejad means to do it. Does history repeat itself? Hopefully we learned our lesson the first time.
