Nato Chief Thinks Iran Double Timing Afghan Government And Taliban

Iran was quick to forge friendly ties with the Hamid Karjai government just when the Hamid Karjai government with the help of American backing inherited the mess called Afghanistan. But it might still be lending support to the Taliban ever so subtly. This move of having ties with both the incumbent government of Afghanistan and Taliban can be seen as a countervailing measure. The chief of NATO used the term “hedging its bets” to describe this Iranian policy. Indeed, it is an effort to have more leverage in the war-torn country.
U.S. Army Gen. Dan McNeill, in an interview Monday with The Associated Press, said Taliban fighters are showing signs of better training, using combat techniques to pin down U.S. Special Forces soldiers comparable to “an advanced Western military.” [source]
Iran has retorted to the allegations by labeling it a broad anti-Iran campaign. Iran has questioned the merits of these accusations of Iran, a Shiite country, supporting Taliban, a Sunni movement. Which it believes to be improbable in the wake of such fundamental religious segregation between Iran and Taliban. The NATO chief is not the only one on planet earth to have alluded to Iran double timing the Afghan government and the Taliban. Iran has received overwhelming criticism from all corners on this issue. Many middle-eastern countries also have expressed there displeasure about Iran’s helping hand towards Taliban. Iran has been accused of supplying weapons to the Taliban. The friendship between the two is obviously not due to their common pretense of puritanical austerity. Their bond has as its pretext sheer convenience and the need of the hour.
