Does Kuwait Have A Soft Corner for Iran?

Kuwait has made no bones about the fact that it wants to have nothing to do with a military campaign against Iran, although an invasion of Iran would warrant the use of Kuwaiti soil. Iran continues with its recalcitrant ways and seems to be marching ahead towards it fate with both eyes wide shut. The U.S made extensive use of Kuwaiti territory in the war against Iraq. However, parallels cannot be drawn between the invasion of Iraq and a prospective invasion of Iran.
“The United States did not ask (to use Kuwaiti military facilities for any attack) and even if it did, we will not allow anybody to use our territory,” Defence and Interior Minister Sheikh Jaber al-Mubarak al-Sabah told reporters [source]
It must be remembered that Kuwait was nursing injuries to it’s ego after Iraq had invaded, or virtually walked over Kuwait before the Gulf War I. This made Kuwait a natural U.S ally in the invasion of Iraq. In addition, Iraq was so incapacitated that Kuwait was hardly threatened. But Iran will surely be able to rufflle a few Kuwaiti feathers if not the American ones. This is because Iran exercises a decent offensive range. It has in it’s, otherwise much exaggerated, arsenal weapons that can wreck havoc in the Persian Gulf and Israel. Anyways anything is better than the rusty skud missiles that Saddam Hussein’s Iraq possessed. Iran has gone on record and warned the Persian Gulf countries of dire consequences, if they sided with the U.S. The pint sized Kuwait seems to have taken Iran at its word.
