Ahmadinejad’s Face Saving Exercise

President Ahmadinejad is willing to meet his staunch detractors, the economists that have publicly decried his economic policies. It is clear that Iran’s economic direction has fixed its meeting with disaster. Iran is the second largest producer of crude oil in the world, but still imports more than half of its gasoline needs. Not only that, the country is marred by other economic hurdles, one of them being the disastrous economic policies of the Mullah regime.
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad will hold a “frank and friendly” debate with a number of economic experts who have criticized his government’s economic policies, the press department of the presidential office said on Sunday.[source]
It is apparent that this is a face saving move, as the economy is in an irrefutably bad shape.
