It’s no surprise when just last week the International Criminal Court in The Hague accused Sudanese President Omar al-Beshir of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes in Darfur and issued an arrest warrant against him.
Ahmadinejad has interpreted the international court’s verdict against the Sudanese president as a pretext to divide the largest African country into pieces.
“Colonialist powers want to cut Sudan into pieces in their own ways, they want to prevent this country from having a constructive role in Africa and the Islamic world… There are people who have not responded to hundreds of crimes committed by Saddam and the recent bombing of a wedding ceremony in Afghanistan”, said Ahmadinejad. They did not respond to crimes committed by Saddam? I thought he was hung. Afghanistan? I thought there was a coalition force over there. Sudan’s government is responsible for over 400,000 killings in Darfur. There is nothing biased about this verdict - it was long overdue.

Memo to Ahmadinejad: Don’t Repeat Nasser’s Mistake
Open Memo
To: The Iranian Mullahocracy
From: China Confidential
Study your history.
The late Egyptian president and Third World hero, Gamal Abdel Nasser, made the mistake of setting in motion a deadly dynamic that he could not control. The result was the Six-Day War, during which, Egypt’s air force was destroyed.
Israel will not ignore your repeated provocations and threats. Your formidable missile arsenal appears to be a deterrent to military action aimed at eliminating your nuclear arms program. But your missiles are vulnerable. And your nuclear weapons have yet to be developed.
The Jewish state, reborn in the aftermath of the Holocaust that you deny, will not cooperate in its own destruction. You are playing for time and playing with fire–nuclear fire.

Iran test-fired a long-range missile on Wednesday in response to what it says are threats from Israel and the United States, Iranian officials said.
“We want to tell the world that those who conduct their foreign policy by using the language of threat against Iran have to know that our finger is always on the trigger and we have hundreds and even thousands of missiles ready to be fired against predetermined targets, Gen. Hossein Salami, commander of the Revolutionary Guard ground forces, said on state TV.” source

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have begun a military exercise and issued a warning that Israel and U.S. naval forces in the Persian Gulf would be prime targets if Iran is attacked. The Web site of the elite Iranian force posted a statement late Monday announcing the military drill, which it said involved “missile squads,” but did not say where it was taking place. Iran’s guards and national army hold regular exercises two or three times a year, but the statement did not say whether this drill was one of them or if it was a special exercise. full article
The tension is really building up.
