The final election result - 85% voter turnout and Ahmadinejad victory with 62.63% of the total vote and 33.75% of the vote to the closest contender Mousavi not to mention ridiculously low number of votes of Rezai and Karrubi, shows that the Iranian leadership not even bothered to produce elegant fraud.
Why the demonstrative fraud insulting the intelligence of the electorate? Why the beating up of elderly women and young students in Tehran demanding to know what has become of their vote? And why brutal repression of dissent in front of the entire foreign press corps? Is this regime on the verge of collapse? Or perhaps what is happening, isn’t a loss of control, but the groundwork to assert much more control?
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has responded to Barack Obama’s opening to Iran, and his answer is characteristically acerbic. Yes, we can talk, he is saying, if you come on your hands and knees.
Change means apologizing to the Iranian nation and working to redress their black dossier and the past crimes perpetrated against the Iranian nation” [source]
What Ahmadinejad doesn’t realize is that the arrival of a moderate voice (with a muslim background) will pose a greather threat than Bush. What can the government get the Persian civilian population to rally against next? Good luck Mullah’s.
For someone like Ahmadinejad who sounds off on almost everything, especially if it has to do with Israel, is very quiet these days.
Are the mullahs cowards? Are they worried the same will happen to them as with Hamas? Or is their reluctance to escalate matters related to Mr. Obama?
The geopolitical intelligence site, Stratfor has pointed out that,
Iran is working on consolidating its gains in Iraq, and the leadership in Tehran appears to be under the impression that the incoming U.S. administration will be more open to negotiations on key issues such as the future status of U.S. forces in Iraq, the makeup of the Iraqi security and intelligence establishment, recognition of Iran’s sphere of influence in the region, Iran’s nuclear program and prospects for foreign investment in its depressed economy.
“Kargozaran has been banned over a media offence and the case has been referred to the court,” Mohammad Parvizi, who is in charge of domestic media at the culture ministry, told IRNA.
He said the ban was ordered over “a piece yesterday which justifies the Zionist regime’s crimes against humanity in Gaza and portrays the Palestinian resistance as terrorists who cause the deaths of children and civilians by taking up position in kindergartens and hospitals.” [source]
Kargozaran was started by Iranian students. The Iranian Students movement is the last refuge of relatively free thinking left under the dictatorship of the mullahs in the facists Islamic Republic.
The Terrorist Holocaust-denier wishes you a Merry Christmas. I find it entertaining that the leader of a country that condones stoning of women speaks as if he knows about Jesus. Wasn’t it Jesus that stopped a woman from being stoned to death? I can’t believe UK’s Channel 4 gave this dangerous fanatic who denies the Holocaust while preparing for another an unchallenged platform to send out his message.
Channel 4’s decision to invite Ahmadinejad to present the alternative message also, I think, demonstrates how few people have grasped who he really is. The people at Channel 4 must still see him as a bit of a laugh, someone who succeeds in annoying the Bush administration and the Israelis, rather than as who he really is: a man who has ordered the death of British troops, is keen to wipe Israel off the map and who supports the hanging of homosexuals and the oppression of women. Let us hope that in we wake up to who he and the Iranian regime really are in time to rally the political and diplomatic will necessary to stop Iran from going nuclear.
Russia has begun delivering S-400 (s-20) air defense systems to Iran which could help repel Israeli and US air strikes on its nuclear sites. Moscow has been aggressively marketing the S-400 throughout Asia, Europe, and the Middle East the last few months. It is now one of the most sought after missile defense systems in the world. Most news agencies report that these missiles are S-300/S-20. This is incorrect, since the new S-20’s are based off of the S-400 model.
On July 9, 2008 US Secretary of State Robert Gates said: “Based on what I know, it’s highly unlikely that those air defense missiles would be in Iranian hands any time soon.” Clearly, Gates was misinformed and his intelligence wrong, since five months on, those missiles are on their way to Iran.
Before you jump to conclusions, do not forget that the the US does not need to shove B2, B1, B52 planes anywhere near Iran. ICBM’s using current HE packages are a safe and easy solution for taking out Iran’s nuclear sites.
At this point we’ve lost count how many times Ahmadinejad has forewarned of Israel’s demise. It’s amazing that the general public does not take these threats seriously. Why does the world ignore this? In an Iranian state television broadcast, Ahmadinejad said:
“While expressing sympathy with Palestinians and warning professional Zionist criminals, I declare that the Zionist regime has reached the end of the road and more crimes cannot save it… In the near future the concepts of aggression and Zionism will be wiped from the world.” [source]
Israel will not tolerate this much longer. The question that remains is who will attack first, Israel or the US?
In a late news conference to foreign journalists, Chavez said “[The] Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sent him a letter. The reply wasn’t good. It was disrespectful. Obama was unable to get away from the cliche. He spoke like Bush. They are very bad signs.” [source]
Chavez and Ahmadinejad both insulted? So far so good from Obama. Let’s hope his true colors remain this way.
